Brussels extends dairy merger review
Friday 19 September 2008
The European Commission has extended the deadline for its review of plans by dairy cooperatives Campina and Friesland Foods to merge until December 1.
The merger will create one of the biggest dairy groups in the world, with sales of over €9bn.
In July the Commission launched an in-depth probe into the deal, saying there were fears it could raise the price of dairy products.
