EasyJet takes Schiphol to competition body
Budget airline EasyJet is making a formal complaint to the competition authority about Schiphol airport fees, news agency ANP reports on Wednesday.
EasyJet accuses the Amsterdam airport of discriminating against domestic travellers by charging them higher fees than transit passengers.
EasyJet is particularly angry about the proposed sharp rise in the security surcharge which will be introduced on November 1.
EasyJet says that from November, air travellers will pay some €50 each in taxes and surcharges to the airport, but transit passengers will pay half that.
A spokesman for Schiphol told news agency ANP that the different rate charged transit passengers had been approved by the competition authority.
