Drinks cost most on Leidseplein

Wednesday 30 July 2008

Amsterdam’s Leidseplein has the most expensive pavement cafés in the country according to research by the consumers’ association, reports the city’s local television channel AT5 on Wednesday.

A cup of coffee in Amsterdam costs around €2.30 while customers pay about €2.70 for a beer, says AT5. These prices are 9% higher than the national average.

Not all of the bars are that expensive. Try Dan Murphy's Irish Bar. It's cheaper than most and the best bar in the Square by far.
