Tax probe into secret bank accounts

Monday 28 July 2008

Two Dutch companies and 19 individuals are on a CD-ROM containing details of secret bank accounts in Liechtenstein which has come into the hands of German tax authorities, reports ANP news service on Monday morning.

The information has been passed on to the Dutch tax office which is currently examining the data. The tax authority will claim back any taxes due and impose fines or take court action if necessary, says junior finance minister Jan Kees de Jager in a letter to MPs on Monday.

De Jager also says that the tax office has demanded the payment of €430m from Dutch citizens with secret bank accounts in Luxembourg and other undisclosed assets and property abroad, reports ANP.
