Truckers go slow in fuel price protest

The A2 motorway between Den Bosch and Utrecht was blocked briefly by angry lorry drivers on Thursday morning, ahead of today’s official go-slow, news agency ANP reported.

Drivers are protesting against the planned increase in petrol and diesel prices from July 1.
Today they plan to hold a go-slow on a number of roads between 11.55am and 12. ‘Truckers have had it up to here,’ Alexander Sakkers, chairman of the truckers lobby group TLN, told the AD.
Transport minister Camiel Eurlings urged truckers not to block roads. ‘It is important that the motorways stay open,’ he told the paper.
Truckers are also taking action against rising fuel prices in Spain and Portugal.
