PSV win fourth league title in a row

PSV of Eindhoven secured their fourth consecutive football premier league title on Sunday, beating Vitesse of Arnhem away 1-0. The contenders for the championship title, Amsterdam club Ajax, hammered lowly Heracles of Almelo 5-1 to win second place.

Ajax would have won the top position if PSV had lost their game but as it was came in three points behind.
Ajax together with NAC Breda, FC Twente and SC Heerenveen will now have to battle it out in the play-offs for a place in the European Champions League.
At other end of the league, Excelsior of Rotterdam were relegated after losing 5-0 away to SC Heerenveen.
A play-off between De Graafschap of Doetinchem and VVV Venlo will decide which of those two teams will go down alongside Heracles.
Volendam, which took the first division title, will join the premier league next season.
