Telegraaf group books highest ever earnings

Friday 14 March 2008

Newspaper group TMG, which publishes the Telegraaf and free-sheet Spits, booked net profit of €400m last year, the highest figure in its 115-year history.

The figures were boosted by a €405m book profit on the sale of broadcaster SBS and publisher Wegener. In 2006, TMG booked a net profit of €49.6m.

Wegener, the country's biggest publisher of regional newspapers, also announced its earnings on Friday. Net profit more than doubled last year to €32.5m.
