Schoolgirl murderer gets 30 years

A 47-year-old man has been given a 30-year jail sentence and compulsory psychiatric treatment for the rape and murder of 12-year-old Suzanne Wisman in December 2006.

According to Friday's Volkskrant, it is the first time a 30 year jail sentenced has been given in the Netherlands.

Henk van Dijk abducted the girl as she was cycling home along a dyke road, raped her and ran over her twice with his camper van.
