Rolling police strikes continue

The latest in the rolling strikes by police in support of their pay claim continue today in parts of the the Noord Holland region, Brabant, Gelderland and Twente.

Police stations will be closed or only open for a few hours a day. Emergency help will however continue.
Home affairs minister Guusje ter Horst is offering police a 5.75% pay rise over 2 years and a €100 bonus for officers at the top of their pay scale.
The NPB police union wants 3.3% a year and help with healthcare costs and better rates for irregular hours. The ACP union is calling for a €200 monthly increase across the board.
In Doetinchem a team of striking policemen will play football against the local professional side. This is a cheeky reference to remarks made by football organisation KNVB chairman Henk Kessler, who called the police ‘spoiled brats’ when they announced their industrial action plans and disrupted premier league matches.
