Record sales in run up to Christmas
Retailers expect record sales in the pre-Christmas shopping period says sector association RND.
Shopkeepers forecast an extra €700m sales in the week before Christmas which is almost 50% more than an average week when total turnover is nearly €1.5bn.
This is an increase of 15% on last year says the RND, adding that around €440 per household will be spent in the seven days before December 25.
