Labour pushes for internet on trains

Monday 03 December 2007

It is time that plans to give train passengers access to the internet are finally realised, says Labour MP Diderik Samson in Monday’s Telegraaf.

He says that although Dutch Rail (NS) and track operator ProRail have talked about the idea for several years, nothing has yet been done.

The MP calls on the transport ministry to give the NS a push in the right direction. And he wants the ministry to contribute €15m towards the cost (between €50 and €100m).

‘We want to attract people to public transport and internet can help do that,’ Samson told the paper.
