Unilever sheds three factories and 474 jobs
Tuesday 09 October 2007
Food-to-detergents manufacturer Unilever is to close three Dutch factories by the end of next year with the loss of 474 jobs.
The factories are in Delft, Loosdrecht and Vlaardingen. Production is to be moved to other plants in Europe and to Rotterdam.
The company said compulsory redundancies cannot be ruled out.
The move is part of a large-scale worldwide reorganisation announced by Unilever in August which will result in the loss of 20,000 jobs within four years.
