Mushrooms to fall under opium law

Friday 12 October 2007

Health minister Ab Klink and justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin have agreed that hallucinogenic mushrooms are to come under the opium law so that the sale of fresh ones are illegal. Dried mushrooms are already banned.

Dozens of so-called smart shops in the Netherlands have sold fresh hallucinogenic mushrooms for years.

However, an increasing number of incidents involving so-called paddos, including the death of a 17-year-old French girl, has turned public opinion against hallucinogenic mushrooms and forced the cabinet to take action.

What´s next? Banning marijuana? Making prostitution illegal? The Netherlands was the last country wiuth liberty in this world, what the hell is going on with this country? It´s a s shame, a real shame.. let people take what they like.

Good move! And make sure to ban all the prescription medications that kill as a "side effect" as well. Oh wait, those you won't ban, because they give cruise tickets to doctors for "seminars", and the smartshop owners don't...oh, I see. So it's not really about health at all, is it.

Oh hell that's just great :) !

Now all these people who want mushrooms will have to buy it from the black market, which means less safety, no money from taxes for the state and more crime. What a wonderful solution.

I admired Netherland so much for its liberal laws but it looks like this won't be the case in a few years anymore. I think this will happen to all psychoactive substances that are legal in the Netherlands today like kratom salvia and probably marihuana too.

Stupid conservative hypocrites. A drunken driver killing their families should teach them a nice lesson about intoxication death related statistics.

And yes, Marihuana and Hash are next, THC the psychoactive chemical in these is also a hallucinogen at high doses.

welcome to the thought police-state.
