Foot-and-mouth vaccines ordered as precaution
Wednesday 08 August 2007
Agriculture minister Gerda Verburg has ordered 256,000 doses of the foot-and-mouth vaccine as a precaution in case the disease spreads to the Netherlands from Britain.
A ban on the transport of live cows, pigs, sheep and goats has been in place in the Netherlands since the weekend.
Meanwhile the British authorities report that the source of the recent outbreak of foot-and-mouth in England is probably a vaccine laboratory.
