TCI urges ABN Amro chairman to step down

Hedge fund TCI has called on ABN Amro chairman Rijkman Groenink to resign and leave the sale of the biggest Dutch bank to its supervisory board.

TCI says that shareholders at last week’s AGM backed calls to split ABN Amro up, but Groenink insists on going ahead with the sale to Barclays. A consortium of three banks, led by Royal Bank of Scotland, wants to break up the group.
