Make it easier to sack staff, says Amcham

The American chamber of commerce in the Netherlands (Amcham) has again urged the government to make it easier to sack staff in order to boost foreign investment in the country.

The Netherlands is one of the most attractive countries for foreign investors to do business in, and the third most important destination for US firms, Amcham says.
However, it adds that the bureaucracy surrounding redundancy needs to be simplified to make the Dutch workforce more flexibile.
The organisation, which represents some 1,700 US firms in the Netherlands, also called for more investment in research and development and said the Netherlands should tailor its immigration policy to the needs of the economy.
