New housing estates should be greener

Major new housing developments, such as the Leidse Rijn project near Utrecht, need far more trees and parks, housing and planning minister Pieter Winsemius has told MPs. Research shows that while residents are happy with their homes, they would like to see more green spaces.

A spokesman for Winsemius told ANP that the minister was looking at ways to speed up the planting of trees and parks on new housing estates
