Money is not dirty says microbiologist

Money is not actually dirty, says microbiologist Rijkelt Beumer of Wageningen University. Beumer tested banknotes in a number of food shops for four types of bacteria which can make people ill.

Money in the cash till of a cheese shop carried the most bacteria but it was still cleaner than the average hand, Beumer said.
