Families in need of financial aid doubled
Monday 29 January 2007
The number of families applying to the government’s credit association NVVK for financial help has doubled over the past five years to 46,000, chairman Ger Jaarsma said on Monday.
Last year the number of applications for help rose 6%. In 2005 the increase was 12%. 'The people who apply to us for help are the top of the iceberg,' Jaarsma said. 'They are the ones who really need help.'
