25% of earthquake aid still in bank

A quarter of the money raised by Dutch charities following the earthquake which devastated parts of India and Pakistan last October has still not been spent.

The public donated over € 40 mln via a joint campaign by charities such Unicef, Oxfam Novib and the Red Cross but according to their umbrella organisation, SHO, the Pakistan government is slow in working on the reconstruction of the area. Some 80,000 people died in the disaster and three million were made homeless.
