A Dictionary of DutchnessNXPNXP is a semi-conductor producer which was spun off by electronics giant Philips in 2006. The company had a workforce of 31,000 but recently sacked thousands of employees because of the recession. Philips still holds a 19.9% stake in the firm, which makes chips for a range of electronic devices, including mobile phones, ID systems and cars.
