Police have upped the reward for the tip that will lead to the arrest of one of the Netherlands most wanted drugs criminals Jos Leijdekkers aka Bolle Jos (‘Chunky Jos’) from €75,000 to an unprecedented €200,000, the public prosecution office announced in crime stopper programme Opsporing Verzocht.

Leijdekkers, who is both on the national and the international Europol most wanted list, is suspected of being the linchpin in a large scale cocaine smuggling operation via the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp.

Based on intercepted crypto messages, police think he may also be implicated in the disappearance and murder of Naima Jillal, photos of whose dead and tortured body were found on a phone impounded during the Marengo investigation.

The reward money for Leijdekkers is the highest ever price put on the head of a wanted criminal doubling that for Marengo gangland killer Ridouan Taghi.

The public prosecution office has also announced it will prosecute Leijendekker’s  68-year-old mother and 27-year-old sister for money laundering. A police search at the homes and office of the family in January uncovered expensive goods, such as designer bags and watches, which the OM suspects were bought with money from Leijdekkers’s criminal activities.
