Rain and sleet will continue to hit most parts of the country this week, although it will be drier towards the weekend, weather forecasters say.

The KNMI weather bureau said on Monday that wet snow and sleet may well fall in the north and west of the Netherlands in the afternoon and evening, as temperatures drop to around 4 Celsius.

Overnight it will be frosty in places and there may be some sunny spells on Tuesday. But Wednesday and Thursday will again have sleet and snow, and light frosts at night.

By Friday, the sunshine will return and rain is unlikely, but it will remain cold at around 4 Celsius. The weekend will be similar, again with frost possible at night.

The KNMI’s long term forecast puts the likelihood of dry weather towards the end of the month at 70-80%, with a 60% chance of temperatures above the seasonal norm.
