While the temperature in the coming days will be no higher than 15 or 16 Celsius, warmer weather will return towards the end of next week, weather bureau KNMI said on Friday.

The lower temperatures this weekend are due to northwesterly winds and there may also be some showers, the KNMI said in its weekly forecast.

Towards next weekend, the temperatures will rise again into the low 20s, but the chance of rain will also increase to around 60%.

In its long-term forecast, the KNMI sees more of the same well into June, with temperatures around the average for the time of year. Weerplaza paints a similar picture.

Last June was the warmest on record, with an average temperature of 18.2 Celsius.
