Hospital coronavirus patient admissions now average 20 a day

A total of 659 new coronavirus cases were reported to public health agency RIVM in the 24 hours to Friday morning.

That is down 47 on Thursday and shows that the rate is still declining, although it may now be levelling off. The number of positive tests in the past seven day period is down 34% on the week before.

Hospital admissions also continue to decline. The number of coronavirus patients being treated in hospital fell to 363 in the 24 hours to Friday morning, of whom 147 are being treated in an intensive care ward.

On a daily basis, around 20 coronavirus patients are being admitted to hospital, compared with 33 last week. And in the past 24 hours, 11 patients were admitted and 40 discharged, according to national patient monitor LCPS.
