Dutch police have identified two people who left a seriously disabled 25-year-old man outside a fire station in Rijswijk overnight in February.

The two, a 50-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man both come from Germany and German police are taking over the case. It is up to them whether or not to press charges, the Dutch police statement said.

The man was spotted outside the fire station by a passerby in freezing temperatures last month. He had a letter with him which said his mother could not care for him and that his family is homeless.

Police say they came on the trail of his relatives after appealing to the public for help.  ‘The victim is currently being well looked after in a Dutch institution,’ the police said. ‘Eventually, he will probably be moved to Germany.’
