More than 350 people apply to become an MP for the anti-Islam PVV

Voting form with red pencil filling in a black circleSo far more than 350 people have applied to become an MP for the anti-Islam PVV, party leader Geert Wilders said on Twitter.

Wilders asked for applications earlier this month, stating that potential MPs should be ‘daring, love the Netherlands and have an aversion to Islam’.

Describing the reaction so far as ‘fabulous’, Wilders urged his supporters to keep on applying for the job by sending their cvs and letters of motivation.

The PVV currently has 15 MPs but according to the opinion polls is currently the most popular party in the country with over 25% support. Many of the PVV’s current MPs are also members of provincial councils or have other roles within the party.

The next elections in the Netherlands are due to take place in early 2017, unless the coalition falls.
