Zeeland lottery village winners get €80,000 per ticket

In total, 180 people in the Zeeland village of Vrouwenpolder, which won this year’s €43m New Year postcode lottery, will share half the winnings, the lottery organisers said on Sunday.

Everyone in Vrouwenpolder, which has a population of 1,100, shares the same 4354 postcode numbers and that means every villager who took part in the lottery will share the winnings. In total, the winners will get €80,000 a ticket, the organisers said. Some of the winning households have more than one ticket.

The other half of the money goes to nine households on the Koningin Beatrixlaan who had the complete winning postcode. They get over €1m each, and some as much as €6m.

This year’s win was the first time a complete village has won the lottery. In addition, the individual amounts are the highest ever, the organisers said.
