From Monday people who want to protest about being fined for speeding or driving through red lights can make their complaints online.

The government’s collection agency has launched a special website which can be accessed using your national identification number or Digid. The agency says going digital will allow it to process protests more efficiently.

Every year some 10 million traffic fines are sent out. Last year 450,000 people made a formal appeal against the fine. Of them, around 10% had their fines torn up immediately. Another 6,700 people won their cases in court.
