Strukton wins its largest ever order

Utrecht construction company Strukton has won a €1bn order to help build three of the six lines for the unmanned metro system in Saudi-Arabian capital Riyadh.

The consortium of which Strukton is part will build a metro network of 176 kilometres and 87 stations. The total cost of the project is €6bn and it is expected to open in 2018.

Strukton will construct tunnels and viaducts and lay overhead cables. The firm also has an option for a 10-year maintenance contract.
