Civil service leave cancelled to focus on millionaire tax haven list

Junior finance minister Frans Weekers says he has cancelled civil service leave so officials can comb a list of millionaires with money in tax havens to see if any Dutch nationals are involved.

It is not yet clear if any Dutch nationals are on the list ‘but it would be odd if they were not,’ Weekers told Nos television.

Yesterday it emerged that a 15-month investigation by 46 investigative journalists had uncovered information about the tax haven habits of some 120,000 offshore companies and nearly 130,000 individuals.

‘Rest assured, the tax office will take action’ to recover missing tax money, Weekers said.
