Hurricane Sandy affects Dutch weather

Weather centre KNMI said on Tuesday the weather over the Netherlands will be affected by hurricane Sandy, which is currently raging across the north-east coast of the US.

Because Sandy is tracking north-east towards Canada, cold air from the North Pole is streaming towards the Atlantic Ocean. ‘This will bring changeable weather to the Netherlands with a lot of cloud and rain,’ a KNMI spokesman said.
Sandy has brought most of the US north-east coast to a halt, including New York.
Flights from the Netherlands to the east coast of the US have also been disrupted with KLM and Delta cancelling dozens of services.
