Apeldoorn city council has brought in tough security measures for tonight’s memorial service for victims of the Queen’s Day attack.

Six people died when Karst Tates drove his black Suzuki through the crowd watching the royal family arrive for the Queen’s Day celebrations in an open bus. He died of his injuries later.
The queen, crown prince Willem-Alexander, princess Máxima and princess Magriet will attend the service at the Orpheus theatre, along with the prime minister and other members of the cabinet.
Parts of Apeldoorn will be closed to the public and locals banned from parking near the theatre itself, the AD reports. The area where the incident happened is also closed to the public.
The ceremony will be shown on a big screen in the Markt square close to the theatre, where up to 10,000 people are expected.
