Soldier of Orange to become a musical

The World War II story Soldier of Orange, which was turned into one of the most successful Dutch films ever, is about to become a musical, the NRC reports.

The story of resistance hero Erik Hazelhoff Roelzema is being scripted by Edwin de Vries while American duo Tom Harriman and Pamela Phillips Oland will write the songs.
Harriman wrote the music for dozens of Hollywood films and tv series such as Baywatch and the Sopranos, the paper says.
The musical will be joint production between Amsterdam theatre company Montecatini and US musical producer Robin de Levita, the paper says.
Auditions for the cast begin this summer and the show will premier in 2010.
The 1977 film version was directed by Paul Verhoeven and starred Rutger Hauer and Jeroen Krabbe.
