Inheritance taxes cut

Widows and widowers will be able to inherit €600,000 from their partners before becoming liable for inheritance tax, junior finance minister Jan Kees de Jager said on Monday evening.

The current limit is €500,000. Children and grandchildren will also be able to inherit €19,000 before tax has to be paid.
In addition, the tax rate for close family members has been reduced from a maximum 27% to 20%.
In order to reduce the impact of the cuts on the treasury, De Jager plans to crack down on tax dodges used to get round inheritance taxes such as foreign trusts and home transfers, the Telegraaf reports.
The changes still have to be approved by parliament.
