Hospital group Orbis axes 700 jobs

Some 700 jobs are to be axed at healthcare company Orbis in the southern town of Sittard, reports Novum news agency on Tuesday.

Orbis, which has a workforce of 6,000, may be able to offer 150 employees new positions elsewhere in the company, says Novum.
Orbis expects to make a loss of €38m this year and the planned reorganisation is intended to make savings of €32m.
The losses are mainly attributed to the high cost of the Orbis hospital building, inefficient home care services and too many layers of management, says Novum.
