Fortis Holding books €22.5bn loss

The Fortis holding company booked a loss of €22.5bn last year, some €3bn more than originally thought, according to preliminary figures.

Following the sale and partial privatisation of most of Fortis’ activities, the holding concern only contains non-Dutch insurance activities and a number of investment portfolios.
In addition, the agreement between Fortis Holding and Chinese insurance group Ping An has now expired and Ping An can sell its 5% stake, Fortis said in a statement.
