Labour and Christian Democrat MPs are sharply divided over the green elements in the government’s economic rescue package announced last week, the Volkskrant reports on Tuesday.

Labour MPs say the package includes between €6bn and €8bn in extra spending on green energy, but the CDA says that is not the case.
The package includes a commitment to give ‘multi-year certainty to making available sufficient resources to realise 20% sustainable energy by 2020’.
That sentence, Labour MP Diederik Samsom tells the Volkskrant, means that up to €8bn will be spent on generating green energy – some €800m extra in subsidies a year.
But CDA MP Liesbeth Spies says while the economic package does support the 2020 climate target, no ‘hard, quantitiative deals’ have been made.
