Slight majority back Pronk for PvdA job

Some 53% of Labour (PvdA) voters hope that ex-aid minister Jan Pronk will become the party’s new chairman while 30% are against his candidacy, according to a poll by Maurice de Hond on Friday.

In the same survey, 40% said they support Pronk’s vision for the party. Only 28% said they support the direction being followed by PvdA leader Wouter Bos.
Well over half (61%) of those who voted for the PvdA in last year’s elections want the party to take a more left-wing direction, the poll said.
