Mecom makes bid for publisher Wegener

British media investment group Mecom has made a formal cash bid of €17.70 a share for Dutch bourse-listed publishing group Wegener. The bid values Wegener, joint owner of the AD newspaper and full owner of a number of regional titles, at €794m.

Mecom, which has already built up a stake of around 30% in Wegener, says it will consider the bid a success if at least 95% of the shares are tendered.
