Gelderland province is threatening to fine bus company Connexxion €10,000 a day from September 1 if it fails to provide a proper train service between Ede and Amersfoort, the Volkskrant website reports.

Connexxion won the contract to run the service last year but has run into trouble finding enough rolling stock. The provincial council said passengers would suffer because Connexxion had failed to calculate the risks properly and that its performance was absolutely ‘unacceptable.’
