‘Losing is never nice,’ said Dutch football coach Marco van Basten following Oranje’s 2-1defeat in the friendly in Geneva against Switzerland last night. Dirk Kuyt scored for the Netherlands in the second half.

Van Basten told reporters he is unhappy with the way the Dutch national team played at the start of the match.
‘It was weak. That’s not on. Let this be a lesson for the European Championship qualifying games against Bulgaria [September 8] and Albania [September 12]. We must not lose those,’ he told ANP news service.
