Defence dept pays for upkeep royal yacht
The maintenance of Queen Beatrix’s private yacht, the Groene Draeck (Green Dragon), is paid for by the defence ministry and cost at least €112,000 last year, reports today’s Nederlands Dagblad.
This is the equivalent of a year’s salary for five qualified soldiers, the paper said. The defence ministry cannot explain why the cost is so high and why it is paid for by the department, the Nederlands Dagblad said.
