Amusement park tax rise will hit visits

The Efteling amusement park will lose 400,000 visitors a year if the government goes ahead with plans to increase VAT on tickets from 6% to 19%, according to researchers at the University of Tilburg.

Ministers want to increase the tax on amusement parks to raise an additional €100m a year for the treasury, but the researchers say they have failed to take a fall in visitor numbers into account.
