NL must stimulate labour participation and R&D investment, says EC

The Netherlands must do more to increase participation in the labour market or long term economic growth will be negatively affected.

This will be the advice of European Commission in a report to be published today, according to the Financieeele Dagblad.
Quoting well-informed sources, the paper says the EC will also call on the Dutch government to take steps to stimulate businesses to invest in research and development.
The EC is due to publish its first assessment of national reforms to create employment and economic growth this afternoon.
According to the FD, the Netherlands is in the middle group of member states when it comes to economic reforms. Only three countries – Ireland, Sweden and Denmark – are free of EC criticism, the paper says.
