Frans van den Berg, Director of Operations of the Koninklijke Marine (Royal Navy), has resigned following ‘negative publicity’ about sexual harassment within the organisation.

In 2002, Van den Berg was posted to the US following an internal inquiry into allegations of harassment onboard the frigate, Willem van de Zaan. He was later given a top job at the Admiralty.
The Telegraaf reports that a new incident has resulted in his resignation. Two months ago, a government report said such unacceptable behaviour was common throughout the armed forces, but was worse in the navy.
