Trains collide in central Amsterdam, 48 injured, no services to Schiphol

Some 48 people were injured in a collision between two trains near Amsterdam’s Sloterdijk station early on Saturday evening.

It is unclear if anyone has been seriously injured although several passengers have broken bones. Local broadcaster AT5 said 15 people were seriously injured.
Some forty of those injured were in a slow train service to Uitgeest. The other train was a fast service from Den Helder to Nijmegen.
Dozens of ambulances and helicopter ambulances are at the scene.
All train services which leave Amsterdam in a westerly direction have been scrapped, including services to and from Schiphol airport, news agency ANP said. The disruption is expected to last the rest of the day, track operator ProRail said.
