Number of smokers drops to 25%

Some 25% of the Dutch adult population currently smokes, a drop of 3% on the total over the past few years, according to anti-smoking lobby group Stivoro.

The percentage of smokers in the population had been stable at around 28% for years. In the 1950s, some 70% of the Dutch population smoked.

good news! I have it down to 1 or 2 a week, yes per week! unfortunately I love smoking and I struggle....oh well. I feel good about what I can do, and refuse to beat myself up.

That's still 25% too many. I'd like to see a more proactive attitude - bans on outdoor smoking (public transport stops would be a good start) and more aggressive fining and raids of indoor venues openly allowing smoking.
