90,000 people in the Netherlands caught up in Facebook data scandal
Some 90,000 people in the Netherlands may have been hit by the data scandal surrounding Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, the social media platform has told broadcaster NOS.
The amount of information per person varies, but includes names, addresses, photographs, friends and likes, the broadcaster said.
In total, Facebook is thought to have allowed the illicit harvesting of private information about 87 million people worldwide, most of whom are in the US.
The 90,000 Dutch nationals who may have been affected were friends with people who downloaded a personality test app which gave access to their accounts. Just 28 people in the Netherlands downloaded the app, NOS said.
On April 9, Facebook will make it possible for users to see if their data was exposed to Cambridge Analytica
