Winter is set to return to the Netherlands the coming weekend, with night frosts and snow, the KNMI weather bureau said on Tuesday.

The rest of this week will be mainly overcast with some rain and sunny spells, but by Saturday, the chilly east wind will return, bringing sleet and snow and freezing temperatures.

Sunday will be dry with some sun, while Monday will be a cold, sunny day over most of the country, the KNMI said.

The weather bureau’s long-term forecast sees a shift later in the week to more changeable weather with temperatures around normal.
